With all the years of playing soccer, we highly recommend not to use reuglar shoes in the best scenario you can slip and in the worst case scenario you can really injure your self because regular shoes don't provide the grip or friction you need in a grass field, artifical or turf field.
At a minimum we recommend using turf shoes, with turf shoes the rubber studs will provide friction/grip to be able to run comfortable on grass, artificial, turf surfaces. This could be ideal for a coach that wants to train with their athletes, turf shoes are also very common among referees.

For athletes we recommend Firm Ground/Multi Ground cleats, with the intensity that athletes train and play turf shoes do not povide the sufficient grip/friction to keep up. Whether it's Adidas or Nike, you can't go wrong with choosing Firm Ground or Multi Ground cleats, it provides the best grip/friction studs for all fields. With modern fields been build there are also soft ground and artificial ground cleats available.

The only time we recommend using shoes without any type of studs would be when you will be playing or trainning in a Indoor field, cement or basketball court. Even then we would recommend using Indoor Shoes because they are made to take most of the impact then regular shows the sole is made with thicker rubber to withstand the impact of the surface.
